Why does stencil text need bridges?

Cut the letter O out of a sheet and the middle falls out. The same goes for the inside of an A, B, D, P, R, and both halves of an 8. Bridges are thin strips of material that hold those islands to the rest of the sheet. We add them for you, letter by letter, so they look deliberate, not like tape.

I spotted a typo after I ordered. Can I fix it?

Yes. Every email we send has an Edit this design link that reopens your stencil exactly as you left it, with the same text, fonts and layout. Change the letter and send it again. If your order hasn’t been cut yet, reply to your order email and we’ll fix it before it’s cut.

Can I put a picture or logo in my stencil?

Not on the same stencil yet. You can make a photo or logo stencil and a text stencil and order them together.

Can I use more than one font?

Yes. Each block of text has its own font, size, spacing and alignment. Add a block with the + button and set a headline in one face and a date in another.

How big can my stencil be?

You set the finished width on the last step, before you get the file. Bridges scale with that width, so a big sign gets sturdier bridges and a small label gets finer ones.

Which cutting machines does the SVG work with?

Anything that imports SVG: Cricut Design Space, Silhouette Studio (Designer Edition or higher for SVG), LightBurn, Glowforge, xTool Creative Space, Inkscape and Illustrator.

What’s the difference between forward and reverse?

Forward leaves the letters as holes, so paint goes through them. Reverse cuts the letters out as solid pieces, held in a frame by small bridges. You paint around them to get letters in the bare surface color.

Should I make a text stencil or a stencil font?

If you want one finished stencil and don’t use design software, stay here. If you want to type stencil or single-line text directly in LightBurn, Design Space or Illustrator, make a stencil font instead. You install it once and every word you type comes out bridged, or download a ready-made one from the free stencil font library.

What does it cost?

Downloading the SVG takes one unlock, the same unlock that downloads a photo stencil. If you spot a typo or want another font afterwards, change it and download again free for a week. Sign in and your first unlock is free. A stencil we cut for you is priced by its size and detail, like everything else in the shop.
