The bridged layers are specially made so that they won't fall apart or lose 'islands' when you cut them.

Using the Stencils

Cut out and paint your four-layer stencil of Freddie Mercury. Decide whether you will use the natural surface color as one of your layers. For example, if your surface color is close to the color antiquewhite , then you may choose to omit the first layer since the surface has this color already. Bridge width is usually set from 0.03 (for laser cutter) to 0.06 or larger (for blade cutters).

Tip #11:

Better than vinyl for signs

Vinyl signs are expensive, and the second one costs almost as much as the first! With a stencil you can design once and reproduce (and repair) your signs as often as you like. Spray paint comes in many more colors than vinyl, and with a stencil you can use more than one color per layer, if you like.
