The bridged layers are specially made so that they won't fall apart or lose 'islands' when you cut them.

Using the Stencils

Cut out and paint your three-layer stencil of Gandalf. Decide whether you will use the natural surface color as one of your layers. For example, if your surface color is close to the color linen , then you may choose to omit the first layer since the surface has this color already. Tip #2:

Get up close

The closer you crop the image, the more stylized the details become. It's common to want to include facets of the background in your stencil, but the closer you crop, the better your results are likely to be.
