The bridged layers are specially made so that they won't fall apart or lose 'islands' when you cut them.

Using the Stencils

Cut out and paint your five-layer stencil of Rainbow. Decide whether you will use the natural surface color as one of your layers. For example, if your surface color is close to the color whitesmoke , then you may choose to omit the first layer since the surface has this color already. Bridge width is usually set from 0.03 (for laser cutter) to 0.05 or larger (for blade cutters).

Tip #3:

Don't get hung up on color

Once you have the stencil in your hands, you can reproduce it in any colors you like. Krylon sells paint in over a hundred colors, as does Montana Gold. You won't have any problem finding the right colors.
